Will you meet me in the library again? I wanted to talk to you. I've been wanting to for a while, but I couldn't figure out the right time, so... I figured now is as good as any.

I think it's about time we start preparing a change of address form for you. You're almost as likely to be here as you are at your own house.

[translation: hey friend how's it goin'.

he'll be making himself comfortable-- in the same chair as last time.]

And you're more than likely to be outside wandering around who knows where. Are you up to something shady again?

[ but the look on jude's face makes it obvious that he's very much kidding. he knows alvin is done with that life, and he trusts him, wholly and completely. he can't blame him for not wanting to be cooped up in such a small space all the time. ]

So... um. About what we talked about last time. I thought you might want an update.

[ he twiddles his thumbs, a light flush rising to color his cheeks. ]

[...ah yes. Jude's love life. part of him feels like he could absolutely get away will telling him to keep the mushy details to himself without seeming odd. but considering how anxious he was about that in the first place--

he doesn't really have much of a choice does he? as a friend, it's his job to listen.]

So you actually did something about it. Good for you.

[he hates to tell you jude but the result is pretty obvious from the look on your face.]

Y-Yeah. It turned out you were right. Things ended up working out.

[ for a second, he buries his face in his hands, only to peer at alvin through the cracks between his fingers. ]

[there are some things he has confidence in.]

[he leans back in his chair, a grin pasted on his face.]

[ jude beams at him, a genuine smile curving his lips. alvin's words fill him with warmth from the inside out, something about his approval meaning a great deal to him. ]

I'd really like you to meet him sometime.

[ a pause. ]

That's not the only reason I called you over, though.

Sure, why not. Sounds like fun.

[He's sure the person Jude picked was fine. It's not like he was concerned. If anything he's more anxious about that person meeting him.

not like he needs any reminders about who's not good for who here.]

Yeah. I've kind of... well...

[ jude seems to be struggling to get the words out. ]

I've missed you.

[ cue nervous laughter. ]

Even though you're the only one from back home here, we haven't really spent a lot of time together. I know you need your alone time, and I've been trying to respect that, but...

[ jude redirects his gaze to the table. ]

You're my friend. It'd be nice to see a little more of you.

True. I'm not exactly the quality companion Leia or Elize would be, but beggars can't be choosers right?

[well he's not wrong but that's not even what he's saying alvin...]

What? No, that's not what I— of course I miss Leia and Elize, but you're here, and you matter just as much as they do. Don't compare yourself.

I know libraries aren't your thing. Where do you feel like going? We could go take a walk.

I know you're a simple guy-- [and hey. that's not a bad thing.] --but even you have to admit that sounds pretty weak.

[who just. takes a walk.

but then it comes back to this being on him to figure out and that's even worse. jeez...]

Besides. If you've been cooped up here again, you could probably use a little relaxation.

[or never, in his case. that would be nice. also. he's getting up. SO I GUESS THEY'RE LEAVING seems like he has an idea.]

[ it was pretty weak, he has to admit, but he couldn't come up with anything more interesting, and just being in alvin's company is enough. just talking and laughing together is enough, and it's been too long.

jude tilts his head, inquisitive, but he stands up and follows alvin's lead, moving on ahead to walk alongside him rather than behind him. ]

Where are we going?

[listen. alvin doesn't believe any of that. the heck is that, he's not even interesting. he's not a lot of things, if you ask him. it's better you don't ask him, really.]

Since the bath house is back in working order, it seems like a great time to enjoy a nice long soak and wash those cares away.

[yeah, if only that actually worked. well-- at least it might for jude and that's what matters. this is who the trip is for after all.]

[ jude would argue that no, this is for both of them, but sadly, he can't read the inner workings of alvin's mind. all he can do is nod in response. ]

Hmm... I've never used it before. Sure. Why not?

Well then. Even more reason to go give it a try.

[and hey. there's even a nice little walk to enjoy along the way.]

[ jude nudges him in the shoulder with a smile. ]

[alvin feigns surprise and then grins.]

Well don't worry, your secret is safe with me.

[as if there's anyone who doesn't know jude works himself way too hard.]

[ jude can't help but giggle, bumping him lightly again in a playful gesture. ]

So, since I'm just a little less than a whole year older since you last saw me back home, how long do you think it'll take me to grow taller than you?

Woah now. Dreaming big, are we?

[Now that's a strange thing to imagine. A Jude that's taller than him... heh.]

Too bad. Not happening.

It can most certainly happen! There might not be much of a scientific probability, but...

[ he deflates a little... ]
